Qianjiang – the Chinese owner of the Italian-origin motorcycle maker Benelli, is on a rampage, It is setting up its QJMotor brand in the home country and has developed truckloads of new motorcycles, most of them based on the existing or new Benellis.
Under the Benelli moniker also, we are seeing updates along with new models. In a latest, the 2021 version of the entry level sportster 302R has been leaked via some ‘type-approval’ documents. This is the first time we see a new design for the motorcycle.
It is sporting what looks like a stacked twin headlamp unit, a deviation from the current twin split headlamp set-up. The lower part of the fairing appears to have been carried over and so does the fuel tank. However, the rear section is revamped. The seat section looks slimmer and the overall styling makes the motorcycle look more aerodynamic and relatively compact.

302R’s 300cc parallel twin engine has already been updated to Euro 5 emissions (which are roughly equivalent to Indian Bharat Stage 6 norms) on the sibling naked 302S (which is also confirmed for India). The same unit, which produces 36 hp of power, will go to this new 302R as well.
