2021 Apache 160 now becomes the most powerful motorcycle in the conventional 150cc space. It has gained more power and torque in the latest update…
TVS has sent a press note few hours back, informing about the launch of the new 2021 Apache 160 4V. Now, when you look at it, it will look the same as before, but changes have gone inside that motor.
From the same 159.7 cc, 4-valve, oil cooled engine, the new Apache 160 4V now produces 17.63 PS of peak power at 9250 rpm along with 14.73 Nm of max torque at 7250 rpm. For reference, the older, BS6 model churned 16.02 PS at 8250 rpm and 14.12 Nm at 7250 rpm. Which means that power has gone up by 1.61 PS or a very significant 10 percent and torque has also gained 0.61 Nm (corresponding to 4.3 percent). On the other hand peak rpm at which the new Apache produces max power now comes 1000 rpm later. The same 5-speed gearbox continues to be used.
This power hike makes it the ‘most powerful’ motorcycle in the segment beating the Pulsar NS160 (which produces 17.2 PS). Obviously the Yamaha twins – R15/MT15 are not considered here.
And wait, that is not where the story ends – TVS informs that the 2021 Apache 160 4V is now 2 kilos lighter than before. The drum brake variant tips the scale at 145 kg whereas the disc version weighs 147 kg. This will give the new Apache a much better power to weight ratio and the overall performance should be better (than the BS6 variant).
