Mysterious RE Classic 350 Spotted at a Dealership – BS4 or BS6?

Purported 2020 Classic 350 pics have surfaced from a dealership with cosmetic changes. But nothing confirms that it is BS6 compliant?

Royal Enfield seems to have shipped apparently new-looking Classic motorcycles to dealerships according to recent pics shared on the internet.

The Classic 350 draped in black colour adorns new stickers and graphics and also sport alloy wheels in place of the spokes it has adorned till now. It also features blackened theme to the engine and the overall changes do make the motorcycle look fresher.

However, this is mysterious because there is no confirmation or concrete evidence that it sports a Bharat Stage 6 compliant engine. It must be cleared that these motorcycles appear to carry the same pushrod engine of the current model.

They are different from the new-generation Classic that Royal Enfield is testing on the roads. The test mules have drive chains swapping position with rear disc brakes. There are many other changes the new-gen Classic mules have been spotted with, which are absent on these showroom motorcycles. Here are spy pics of the new-gen Classic.

Now the questions are…

a) Are these motorcycles BS6 Classics? A recent report suggested that the next-generation Classics will not be ready by or before April 2020 and hence, Royal Enfield may just update the current engine with BS6 norms as a stop-gap arrangement till the new versions are ready for sale.

b) Are these motorcycles still BS4 compliant and Royal Enfield is pushing the final units just ahead of the BS6 deadline of 1st April 2020?
