2020 Africa Twin Launched at 15.35 Lakh; Bigger Engine, More Features

2020 Africa Twin price is significantly higher than the 2019 version but there is a big reason for that. We discuss the specs, price and details…

Honda introduced the new generation Africa Twin in September 2019 and brought significant changes to the adventure tourer. And today, at an event in Delhi, the company has officially launched it in India.

The 2020 Africa Twin gets an 86cc bigger engine and now displaces 1084 cc (up from 998cc). As a result, power has been bumped to 102 hp at 7500 rpm and torque has increased to 105 Nm at 6250 rpm. In comparison, the older model produced 89 bhp of power and 93 Nm of torque.

Internationally, Honda is selling two variants of the motorcycle – standard and the higher-spec Adventure Sports. It is the latter that Honda has introduced in India, which is significantly better kitted.

Honda is also offering the bike with a 6-speed manual gearbox for the first time in India, in addition to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) variant.

In terms of features, the new Africa Twin is equipped with cornering ABS, rear lift control, wheelie control, cruise control and 6-axis IMU. There is a 6.5 inch coloured display which is compatible with Apple CarPlay.

For reference the older Africa Twin was introduced last year at Rs 13.5 Lakh which signifies a fair bit of a price hike. But it must be noted that the older model was the standard version which Honda used to sell here. The new launch is the much better kitted premium Adventure Sports version. It gets exclusive features like a larger 24.2 liter fuel tank, tubeless tyres, charging socket, aluminium rack and a bigger skid plate.
