At the 2018 Auto Expo, Yamaha delighted motorcycling enthusiasts by relaunching the R3 in the Indian market after it was discontinued because of BS4 emission norms. The new R3 was introduced with Metzeler tyres as well as dual-channel ABS as standard at likeable prices.

This is a relatively nominal increment considering that the R15 v3 recently received a revision of Rs 2000 over the first announced priced.
On its response, the 2018 R3 has been registering sales of 50-80 units every month. Rival Kawasaki also upped its game by launching 2018 Ninja 300 recently at shocking 2.98 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) which makes it the cheapest twin cylinder motorcycle in India. However, they also announced that prices will be increased after a few months/weeks.

Yamaha has also started testing the new 2019 R3 (check spy pics here), design language of which will be based on the new ‘R’ series DNA signified by the new R15 v3 as well as the 2019 R125 unveiled a few days back at INTERMOT. The new R3 is expected to be launched sometime next year.
