2018 Apache 160 price increased by Rs 500 but only for the FI model.
The Apache 160 has always been a very competitive and fun to ride motorcycle but TVS has dragged it for more than 10 years with just cosmetic enhancements. And now for the first time, they have launched its new-generation model which is a comprehensive update over its predecessor. The motorcycle is now available in Maharashtra according to the latest update shared by the company.
2018 Apache 160 4v, as it is called as, is based on the fantastic Apache 200 (read review) and looks very similar in design. It comes with a lot of new features over the older Apache 160 and the major ones are listed below.
2018 Apache 160 Changes & Features
- Apache 160 now also comes with fuel injection as an optional higher variant. It gets closed loop Bosch unit.
- It now gets 4-valves
- On offer is oil-cooling for efficient heat management
- It also comes with a new Double-cradle Split Synchro Stiff Frame.
- It also gets Monoshock absorber for the first time.
- From the analog/digital console of the older Apache 160, the 2018 version gets an all-digital unit.
From the 159.7 cc motor, Apache 160 now produces 16.8 PS of peak power at 8000 rpm for the FI variant and 16.5 PS (at the same rpm) for the Carb trim. Both the models, however, churn out exactly the same torque of 14.8 Nm at 6500 rpm. This is a fairly reasonable increment and results in a noticeable impact on the motorcycle’s performance.
2018 Apache 160 Performance
At 16.80 PS of power, Apache 160 now becomes the most powerful 160 cc motorcycle in India. TVS is claiming a top speed of 114 kmph (for the Fuel injected variant; it is 113 kmph for the carbed Apache). It also has the best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 0.0849 kW/kg).
Now here comes the most surprising part – TVS has put down the sprint timings of both the variants:
- 0-60 kmph – 4.73 sec (Carb), 4.8 sec (FI)
- 0-100 kmph – 15.9 sec (Carb), 16.6 sec (FI)
Yes, the carb’d variant is quicker in both the performance figures and in our recent test we could achieve a higher top whack on the carb variant.

From the originally announced price tag, according to the official website, TVS has hiked Rs 500 on the FI variant for undisclosed reasons. The Apache 160 4V is about Rs 2800 costlier than the older model, in the entry price tag, but with so many features, the price hike is more than justified.
