Honda unveiled the new 2017 CBR650F at EICMA last year. Ever since then there have been expectations of the new model’s entry in India. An earlier report suggested that the launch would take place by June but that hasn’t happened. In a recent update, the new CBR650F has gone to Malaysia. It costs RM 47,115 there which is about 7 Lakh in INR.

Now there are three hints that suggest that the company is getting ready for the new 649cc silent assassin for India…
- In the month of July 2017, Honda did NOT sell a single unit of CBR650F according to the official SIAM sales data we have access to.
- At the official webpage of 650F, Honda has taken the price tab away. This price tab was present till a few weeks back.
- A couple of dealers we called informed us that they are no more taking the bookings of CBR 650F.
Obviously, this is not a confirmation that the 2017 version is definitely coming but these are hints about the possibility of the same. We do NOT believe Honda will discontinue the motorcycle in India.
The 2017 CBR650F gets a few mechanical changes to the engine, higher power and torque output, better ridability and most importantly a claimed higher exhaust note (more details). The motorcycle has already been launched in Japan few months back. But if and when Honda does consider the new 650, we hope they price it attractively this time…
