Gixxer, the highly talked about premium 150cc motorcycle by Suzuki, is touted to be coming very soon. And its latest spotting courtesy BikeDekho.com, confirms that at least a few dealerships have started receiving the initial batches.
Gixxer will be sitting over the current GS150R and will compete with Yamaha’s FZ, Hero’s new Xtreme and Honda’s upcoming 160cc motorcycle.
The Gixxer’s specifications have already been released by Suzuki a few days back and all we can say at this point is that they appear to be ‘interesting’! The new 154.9cc engine produces 14.8PS of power at 8000rpm and 14Nm of torque which peaks at 6000 rpm. Fueling continues to be through the conventional carburetor.
At 135kgs, Gixxer is a light motorcycle which translates into a fairly good power to weight ratio and hence better on road performance. 14Nm of torque will also help you carry that extra load around, with relative ease. However, unlike GS150R which comes with a 6-speed gearbox, Gixxer manages with a 5-speed transmission.
Bookings are already underway and if your heart is set on this machine you can head to your local Suzuki dealership. Considering that the lesser GS150R already retails at Rs 76,000 on road in Delhi, this Gixxer may breach the Rs 80,000 mark which is what appears to be a little costly for what the motorcycle offers upfront! Expect a launch announcement by Suzuki anytime soon considering these latest spyshots.
