You may have already noticed that TVS Scooty Pep (Priced at Rs.33,000 ex-showroom) is the best selling scooter in the girl’s scooter segment. But our review shows that most people are making a mistake by buying this scooter. The only good things are the brand name, advertisement and looks. TVS has launched the new Scooty Pep Wimbledon series.
The bike looks good, but performance is also equally important. Users have reported that buying TVS Scooty Pep is the worst choice they ever made. There have been so many complaints of the scooter performing very poorly during rainy season. The brakes are very poor and makes it very risky for the rider. The engine does not start during rains and sometimes the engine stops after a few seconds of revving up.
People have reported that the mileage of Scooty Pep ranges from 45 – 50 kmpl which is quite low of a engine of less than 100cc. The bike becomes very unstable when the speed crosses 50 kmph.
There are two modes being displayed in the dash board namely power mode and economy mode. But this is
just some fancy feature that TVS has tried to attract users… I do not really see any use behind it, who would be looking at the dash board instead of the road while driving!
As more and more reviews and user’s comments are posted online, I hope that people will become aware of the actual reality of the bikes and make their buying decision with clear analysis of the various models and its pros and cons.

I was one of the first to buy the wimbeldon collection and the previous bike i owned was also a scooty pep . So i guess that entitles my response as a owner / user response. Apart from the “getting used to the vehicle” when one buys a new bike i had no problems with the bike specially in the huge rains that came in last few weeks. In fact scooty was the only bike cruising along on the road when it rained while others put their muscle to work . I am not really interested in RPM or Torque ( and i am sure no other girl riding any two wheeler is ) but am definetly particular about a hassle free bike with unmatched mileage, style and performance ( read safety and braking, riding comfort ,looks , speed etc ) which my scooty gives without a second thought. I am sure you would have got an insight to why as you have mentioned above that ” TVS Scooty PeP is the best selling scooter in girls scooter segment “.
Divya, at BikeAdvice we post about bikes only after extensively reviewing the bikes, both by ourselves and from users. We post only the point of view of the majority and we agree than there may be minor difference of opinions. Perhaps you should try Honda Activa and Hero Honda Pleasure too!

Hey, the Brakes are good but the tyres are bad, gripless.
I replaced the OEM TVS tyres with MRF ones and now the brakes perform well and the contact with the road has also improved.
One should think of spending another 1000 rupees for a set of Grippy tyres. I don’t see any issue with the brakes. They are good.

err, well. I am male, 27, and a hefty 78 Kgs.. Using a Scooty ES of 1996 mode. Have’nt upgraded to bikes or bigger scooters mainly because I need to use my vehicle only once a week. Another reason is, brilliant performance. I live in a place with lots of steep roads, curves, chaotic traffic at peak hours, dusty place, also next to sea – salty and moist. When in college (4 years ago, I was 70Kgs back then) I used to take short cuts through mud roads which almost turned into marsh – absolutely no problem (yes, it would sidewind a little, but I could manage. Oh wait! Did I forget to mention I used to have my friend in the back when doing that?. It was unused for more than a year when I was in Bangalore.. I thought the parts would rust, corrode, and I would have to buy a new vehicle when I come back. Surprisingly, a change of clutch (and a light switch) was enough! I also changed the battery and brake wires, just to be on the safe side, ignoring the analysis by the mechanic. The milage has come down a bit. But I still takee my 85 KG friend to the beach every week, riding at 50 KMph .. I know, measely, i could easily take it up to 60 but, chaotic traffic, you never know when the dogs like to cross the road. The best part is maneuverability. There is a much higher chance of me slipping through thick traffic jams, than I would on other bigger vehicles.
Now, to top it all, I learnt to ride scooters using my dad’s Kinetic Honda when I was a kid! I used the Kinetic Honda for 2 years or so, before I started using my sister’s scooty who got married and left the scooty for me
So my advice is this.. If you are a girl and get your hands on a well maintained old scooty, don’t let go. They are gems. I always disliked the new design.. They are too big and bulky.. Can’t slip though traffic that easily.

Tvs scooty pep+ is the worst vehicle it creates many problem like if once the battery is down it sholudn’t be started with a kick also it stops in between.

I have been driving Scooty pep+ for three years now and i will tell you the real problems with this thing. Firstly the stand is too low and some times hits speed braker. Secondly, serious problem is, when the front wheel gets wet and if you apply two brakes in an emergency, you are a goner! Sorry but this is true. Yesterday i had a nasty skid when i had to apply two brakes in an emergency at only 25 to 30 kmph. Even if you apply both brakes simultaneously the front one dominates, reacts like a double disk brake some times leading to skid. Its been raining from a week here and rains spells disaster to this scooty.
Other facts are mileage is poor and parts are expensive. Auto gear is ok, suspension is good. the climb on a steep road is good. stability after fifty kmph is bad. (you dont wanna go fast on this and 60 kmph is a bad idea).
I dont recommend Scooty pep+ for any pretty girl out there. Ride safe live long.

I bought scooty pep-plus six months ago in blore.
Minus:
1. Few service centers are real good. Pl note, not all. Choose the beast dealer if you want good service.
2. U may face problems on the speed-braker. Clearance is not good.
3. The head light fused within 6 months. But it just costs u just 15 Rs.
Plus:
1. Mileage 50 – 55 KM/L
2. No issues till date while starting the bike.
3. Left the bike for 15 days and could start in one kick. Wasnt expecting it though:)
4. Not much engine sound.
5. I am 5’10″. No issues with this height. Yeah, sometimes I feel while turning the scooter, It hits my knees.

I bought Scotty pept 4 months back and completed 3000 KMS.
Scooty mainly used by wife , see used daily travels 8 KMs dialy. She not satisfied with its breaks even one time she ramp in to one rickshaw even tough she rides the scoot well. One more problem noticed that when we both travel in a speed braker the lower bottom touches the ground even in dead slow. Seems to be very less ground clearance.
We used to fill 200 Rs pertrol every week , Seems to be giving 40 -50 KNPL , Not more than 50 on any condition.
I user this scooty to travel it highways , it not goes more than 70 KM Per hour seep even with full accelleration and 3 service alreayd done. The engine sounds heavily after 65KMPH .
I am not happy with the scooty , please go for HH plearsure for ladies who want lights wight scotter or HH Activa if weight is ok.

hey all… i have been riding pep+ since 2 years. i have done many nasty things with it.. its frm this scooter i hav learnt doing different stunts like burnout, wheelie, doughnut etc. and i got a top speed of 72 kmph frm it. even with all these rough uses, it has not showed any engine problem or any thing… we even had drag races with activa and dio in which pep+ was the leader till 60 kmph.. i still luv it a lot…
Tvs scooty mileage it gives 35 and servicing is worst how many i have told to do properly still they are doing same problem just they wash it they will change the oil. and they will charge more i did not understand why these TVS service centre doing like this waste of buying Tvs Scooters.I am not Satisfied More problems in scooters.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus is engine position is too low and when you have a pillion rider, fair chance of hitting the road even for small speed breakers and pot holes. Self start a big problem. Had to replace a battery.And Centre stand is not so good getting stuck.Tvs company only fit for bikes Scooter segment not good waste of buying tvs scooty and wego are same problems we not satisfied.Better go to Honda company vehicles are good.

I always recommend Hero Pleasure. It has more power and performance then scooty. Visit a local dealer to check out the weight factor. Its more reliable and refined then scooty.

Get Hero Pleasure, its a very good scooter. But check it out at local dealer that you are comfortable with the weight. Next Honda Dio. Hero is still with Honda till 2014, so don’t have to worry about quality for now. I think the best bet will be Hero Pleasure.
