Yamaha WR155 deliveries expected to commence in the coming few weeks in Indonesia. The motorcycle is the dual-sport cousin of R15…
Yamaha surprised everyone by launching an entry level product in its international ‘WR’ range which comprises dual-purpose motorcycles. Called as the WR155 R, the motorcycle is based on Yamaha’s popular 155cc platform and it shares its engine with the YZF-R15 v3.
WR155 is going to Indonesia first and after its first unveiling in December, the motorcycle has been spotted on a trailer carrying other Yamaha vehicles. This is a clear indication that Yamaha has commenced dispatches of the motorcycle from its plants to dealerships and it will be available for display as well as deliveries soon.
The WR155 gets a double cradle frame and the focus is on riding it on off-road circuits. It produces 16.73 PS of peak power at 10,000 rpm and 14.3 Nm of max torque at 6500 rpm. The 155cc, VVA-equipped liquid cooled engine continues to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

It come with knobby 21 inch and 18 inch tyres at the front and rear respectively. To make the whole concept purposeful, it is shod with aluminium spoke rims and the suspension travel is much higher than the R15. The rear monoshock is adjustable. Weighing just 134 kilos, WR155 will be a very maneuverable dual-sports motorcycle.
Yamaha to Discontinue Current-Gen YZF-R3 in India
Yamaha has priced it just a wee bit higher than the R15 in Indonesia and let us hope there are some considerations for the Indian market as well considering the extreme popularity of this 155 platform here.
