While Yamaha India fans were immersed in the joy of meeting Jorge Lorenzo at BIC, Yamaha’s Thailand arm has officially launched the M-Slaz, which is the naked version of the faired R15. M-Slaz has been launched at an introductory price tag of Thai Baht 89,500 which equates to about 1.66 lakhs INR.
M Slaz gets the same 149.8 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine from the R15 version 2.0 and is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The manufacturer though, for some reason, has preferred keeping the output figures in secrecy so the official torque and power output figures are not known yet. The M-Slaz also gets some features which our current R15 doesn’t have – like the 37 mm upside down front forks and an ignition switch like the one seen in the bigger MTs.
M Slaz stands 164 mm clear from the ground and has a seat height of 805 mm. The fuel tank, however, can hold just 10.2 litres of petrol and the motorcycle weighs 135 kg wet. It gets full LED head lamps, LED tail lamps and LED daytime running lights.
M Slaz Colors
The bike is available in the following four colour options:
- Red Black
- Blue White
- Matte Black
- Silver Green
Braking duties are administered by a single disc brake at the front and rear each and the motorcycle makes do with a new all-digital meter console.

Popularly known as MT15, M-Slaz has a good chance of making its way into India, however Roy Kurian, VP Sales & Marketing Yamaha India, declined to confirm the model for our market in an exclusive interaction yesterday.
