Topgear Claims Yamaha R3 Indian Launch Next Month….!

The mystery continues to brew! A new report at Topgear India claims that Yamaha is going to launch the most awaited R3 here and NOT the R25 and the timeframe they quote is unbelievably early – just next month (August 2015)! Considering that Topgear is a respected publication and with the girth they have written the article, we hope they are absolutely spot on!

The report further claims that the R3 will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route from their Indonesian manufacturing facility, the same factory which also makes its smaller twin the R25. This adds to our story where we shared an exclusive spyshot of a black-colored plastic-wrapped absolutely-showroom-condition R3 a few days back.

The Japanese manufacturer, which is the most loved out of the lot, has lost its way and is focusing on more volume churning models of late. Ever after the R15 and the FZ, there has been no single interesting motorcycle they have given us (and none of them have done as well, as a result!). But with the R3, we are sure all their sins will be pardoned!

Yamaha R3 features a twin cylinder re-bored 321 cc liquid cooled engine producing 42 PS of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. It will go against the Ninja 300 in terms of actual placement and a few may consider it against the RC390 in terms of power output, however, it will be significantly costlier than the KTM!
