One of our avid reader Rahul has shared this spy pic of the upcoming Yamaha’s quarter liter and he says this has been clicked somewhere at New Vashi in Mumbai in India. At first it was confusing to identify which version is this – R25 or R3 since black color in both the variants carry the same sticker pattern (Yes, other colors are slightly different), with the exception of the name ‘R25’ or ‘R3’ on the fairing just above the front side blinkers.
There is the new Fazer FI v2 in the background which hints at this being some Yamaha facility.
Anyways, coming to the meat of the matter – we zoomed in, enhanced the quality of the pic and it gets abundantly clear that this is the bigger R3 in the frame in Predator Black color. Carefully notice that all the parts that can be sourced locally like RVMs, side blinkers, front visor and seats are covered with plastic and it appears to be a sparkling new showroom-ready motorcycle and not a test mule per se!
Unfortunately, this also doesn’t confirm anything but takes the spotting ratio of R3 vs R25 as 1:1. We still believe Yamaha will launch this R3 since it makes much more sense in the segment they will play in.

For starters, R3, elder sibling of R25 produces 42PS of maximum power and 29.6Nm of peak torque from its 321cc twin cylinder engine which is a rebored unit of the R25’s motor.
