Yamaha updated 2015 YZF R1 and R1M’s details at their website a couple of days back and today, they have officially announced the launch of both these motorcycles in India today at starting prices of Rs 22,34,300. Designed on the ‘high tech armed pure sport concept’, these two bikes are the world’s first series production motorbikes with 6-axis position sensor that detects 3-axis angular velocity and 3-axis acceleration!
The bikes get a new 998 cc forward inclined parallel 4 cylinder, liquid cooled engine, producing 200 PS of maximum power at 13,500 rpm and 112.4 Nm of peak torque at 11,500 rpm. The bike also has an incredible wet weight of 199 kg! The track spec R1M has the same output but has added wizardry to take on the Rossi labelled shoes you have. For the extra moolah you get carbon fibre body, Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension, communication control unit.
The R1M, though, is slightly heavier than the standard version thanks to the added weight of the data system and suspension system. Both the bikes have been designed with active inputs from Valentino Rossi and even the standard R1 can be seen as a road legal M1, the company’s MotoGP bike.

- 2015 R1: The new R1 is available in two colors – Deep Purplish Blue (metallic) and Vivid Red Cocktail
- 2015 R1M: The R1M is available only in Bluish White (metallic)
