The 5-year Roadside Assistance (RSA) program is rolled out to commemorate Yamaha’s 40th anniversary in the Indian market.
Yamaha India has introduced a 5-year Roadside Assistance (RSA) program for its existing customers in the country. It can be availed at a payment of just Rs 975/- for 5 years while it covers a wide range of emergency situations and provides round-the-clock support all over India. The Japanese brand had recently also rolled out the 10 year Total Warranty Program (2+8 years extended warranty) for its customers in the Indian market. Yamaha is marking its 40th anniversary in our country and these customer-centric initiatives have been announced to commemorate this occasion.
The 5-year RSA program includes towing support in case of an accident or vehicle breakdown. It also provides the battery jumpstart assistance and flat tyre support. The customers also get running repair services for minor issues and medical assistance in emergencies. All these features are offered as standard under the Yamaha 5-year RSA program.

Meanwhile, in other news, Yamaha is working on its first electric scooter for the Indian market. Codenamed as RY01, it will be based on the River Indie. The e-scooter was spotted during its test runs for the first time a few days back. Yamaha RY01 electric scooter is likely to be launched by the end of 2025 in India. The e-scooter will be produced by River at its Bengaluru production facility. However, the retail operations will be solely carried out through Yamaha dealerships in India.
River Indie is quite heavy in terms of weight as it tips the scale at 143 kg. Moreover, it has the best-in-segment under-seat storage capacity of 44 litres. However, we expect the Yamaha e-scooter to be relatively light in weight. It will indeed borrow a few elements from the Indie in the form of 14-inch wheels, 6-inch fully coloured LCD screen and swingarm.

Yamaha RY01 will also share the 4 kWh battery pack with River Indie with a range of around 100 km on a full charge. The battery will be linked to an electric motor with peak power output of 9 bhp and top speed of 90 kmph. River Indie is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and it is quite possible that Yamaha’s first electric scooter will be slightly more expensive than this at around Rs 1.50 lakh.
The Japanese two-wheeler brand is also working on its own global EV platform with inputs from various global R&D and engineering teams, including India. The first scooter based on this new in-house developed platform will be rolled out by 2026-27.
