Three of India’s biggest motorcycle manufacturers are preparing new ADVs, ranging from an affordable 250cc Bajaj to the much larger Himalayan 750
The adventure motorcycle segment in India is set to get a new wave of motorcycles. Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Hero MotoCorp are preparing new products of their own. Interestingly, all three are approaching the segment differently. Bajaj is working on an affordable lightweight ADV, Hero is developing a much larger Xpulse, while Royal Enfield is preparing multiple adventure-focused motorcycles at different price points.
1. Bajaj Adventure
Bajaj’s first proper adventure motorcycle has been spotted testing multiple times and could make its debut around the end of 2026 or early 2027. The test mule has a distinctly dual-sport appearance, with a slim fuel tank, tall front end, long single-piece seat, beak-style mudguard and upswept exhaust.
It also gets spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres, with reports suggesting a 19-inch front wheel. The engine is still not officially confirmed, but the strongest reports point towards a 249 cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, potentially borrowed from the Pulsar N250. The bike is expected to compete with the Hero Xpulse 210 and Suzuki V-Strom SX.
2. Royal Enfield Himalayan 440
Royal Enfield is bringing back a more affordable Himalayan with the Himalayan 440, which is expected to launch on September 4, 2026. The motorcycle will use the same platform as the Scram 440 and the 443 cc LS440 air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm in the Scram.
A six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch is expected. The idea is quite straightforward, bring back the rugged, mechanically simpler character of the old Himalayan 411, but with the modern LS440 engine. It should sit below the Himalayan 450 and appeal to riders who want a capable long-distance ADV without spending Himalayan 450 money.
3. Royal Enfield Himalayan 750
Then comes the big one. The Himalayan 750 is expected to sit above the existing 450 and become Royal Enfield’s largest adventure motorcycle. It is one of several new 750 cc motorcycles the company is developing, with the Continental GT 750 also expected to use the new twin-cylinder platform.
The engine is expected to be a 750 cc class parallel-twin, although final power and torque figures remain under wraps. The motorcycle has been spotted testing with a more road-oriented stance, and recent reports also suggest features such as cruise control could be offered. This will be a much more serious highway and long-distance ADV than the Himalayan 450.
4. Hero Xpulse 421
Hero MotoCorp is also working on a much larger Xpulse 421, which is expected to arrive around the end of 2026 or in 2027. Testing has already progressed to high-altitude environments, and the motorcycle is expected to feature 21/18-inch wheels, a large colour TFT, full-LED lighting and an all-new 421cc engine developed by Hero.
The Xpulse 421 should sit well above the Xpulse 210 and is expected to retain the off-road-focused character that has made the smaller Xpulse family so popular. Hero could therefore have a very interesting motorcycle on its hands if it manages to keep the weight and price in check.
