Vespa 946 Armani was introduced in India for reasons not known to mankind!
Piaggio launched the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani – a 125 cc scooter in India last year in November at a ridiculously senseless price tag of Rs 12.05 Lakhs ex-showroom! Don’t rub your eyes – it is what you just read!
We still could not make a wee bit of head or tail out of its astronomical price tag but when we featured it in our list of two of the most senseless launches of the year 2016, a few of our readers told us that it is a ‘collector’s item’ 😉 .
Nonetheless, the news is that Vespa has discontinued the otherwise-gorgeous looking scoot according to a snippet at Bikewale. They say that the scooter is no more on sale in international markets as well because the contract between Piaggio, the parent company of Vespa and Giorgio Armani (the fashion house) has ended. We tried to search a few Vespa’s websites only to find no trace of it.
Bikewale claims that, for some weird and unknown reason, the scooter did manage to find a ‘few’ buyers of this scooter in India however, Piaggio has refused to reveal the number. I, however, doubt that such people exist in our country!

For people who want to know more about it – Vespa 946 Armani’s 125 cc 4-stroke 3-valve engine produced 11.39 bhp of peak power and 9.6 Nm of maximum torque, which is only about 160 bhp and 125 Nm less than Suzuki Hayabusa which was available at around the same price in India. The scooter, however got some premium features like twin-channel ABS, traction control etc.
