United Motorcycles showcased their products in India for the first time back at the Auto Expo last year and confirmed that they will launch their motorcycles by the end of 2014. However, later they announced a delay as they are developing an all new cruiser motorcycle in the Renegade family focussed on the Indian market. Strangely though they once again got lost in the sand of time until today when a picture came up on Motoroids of an office which the manufacturer has set up in Delhi.
The company office, which is located in the heart of the industrial setup in Delhi, Okhla does take us a step closer to its Indian stint. With the festive season looming ahead they can actually get a great initial boost if they can manage to launch their operations sooner.
The company initially intends to open up in the bigger metros before venturing into the rest of the country. Their association with Lohia Auto, which was announced last year, is going to be their solution in terms of localisation boost. Sharing their Indian partner’s production facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, would help them lower the costs.
Their first product is expected to be a 400 cc cruiser targeted straight at Royal Enfield’s line-up. They also have a 350 cc V-twin engine in development which, at the moment, sounds very interesting… We hope to hear something official soon from United Motorcycles…
