TVS sold 2,56,675 scooters last month with 32 percent share as compared to 2,33,337 units retailed by Honda with share of 29 percent during this period
TVS Motor Company, for the first time ever, retailed more scooters than Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India in the domestic market in India. The Hosur-based two-wheeler brand’s market share in the scooter segment went up to 32 percent in July 2026 from 28 percent in July 2025. On the other hand, the Japanese brand’s share in the scooter segment dropped from 41 percent in July 2025 to 29 percent in July 2026. The overall scooter sales stood at 8 lakh units last month as the top 9 brands dispatched 798,190 units with a 24 percent YoY growth.
TVS outnumbered Honda to become India’s biggest scooter brand in monthly wholesales for the first time in July 2026. It sold 2,56,675 scooters last month as compared to 2,33,337 units retailed by Honda during this period. While TVS posted a YoY growth of 40 percent in scooter sales, Honda witnessed a decline by 12 percent in YoY volumes in July 2026.
The scooter industry recorded its second best monthly wholesales in July 2026 at 7,98,190 units. The highest-ever volumes were registered in October 2025 when the overall sales surpassed 8.24 lakh units. In CY 2026, the scooter industry has achieved decent growth with monthly volumes exceeding 7 lakh units mark, except for April when it missed the mark by merely 8,007 units.

Coming to TVS scooter sales in July 2026, the ICE models including the Jupiter, Zest and Ntorq, clocked combined numbers of 1,97,289 units with a YoY growth of 23 percent. On the other hand, the EV portfolio consisting of the iQube and Orbiter posted sales of 59,386 units with a staggering YoY growth of 158 percent. TVS has been the leading electric two-wheeler brand in India for the last several months.
As for Honda scooter sales in July 2026, the company sold a total of 2,32,073 ICE models, comprising of the 110cc and 125cc versions of the Activa and Dio. The YoY volumes dropped by 12 percent as 265,364 units were retailed in July 2025. The sales of all-electric models namely Activa e: and QC1 stood at just 1,264 units, albeit with a YoY growth of 467 percent as only 263 units were sold in July 2025.

Recently, Honda unveiled its third electric scooter in India in the form of the QC3, which is likely to go on sale later this year during the Diwali festive season. It will be powered by a 3 kWh battery pack which will return an IDC range of 145 km on a full charge. It will take nearly 2 hours and 40 mins for a 0-80 percent charge while a complete (100%) juice-up will consume 4 hours.
