New TVS Apache 165 RP signifies a slightly bigger model that may offer more power/torque and could have features like ride modes, etc…
In its latest move, TVS has filed for patents of two new names – ‘TVS RP Race Performance‘ and ‘TVS Apache RTR 165 RP‘. These terms are marked for exam and haven’t been approved yet.
Though there is no word from the company on this yet but if we have to decipher – it appears that the Chennai based maker is planning to introduce a new sub-brand called as Race Performance short form of which would be RP – that would be added to all products emanating out of it.
Apache 165 RP could, then, be one of the motorcycles under this moniker suggesting enhanced performance or whatever TVS decides to demarcate the new sub-brand with.
Apache 165 RP: What About the new 165 moniker?
We believe that it is on the new Apache 160 4V that updates will be carried out and not on the older-gen Apache 160 or Apache 180. Since this figure denotes the cubic capacity, it is a possibility that TVS may increase the displacement by reboring by a few mm to arrive at a near 165cc motor.
This would probably give them room to increase power and/or torque, offer ride modes, etc and further differentiate the offering in the now-crowded 160cc motorcycles (Current Apache 160 has a 159.7cc engine).
Under this ‘RP’ brand, TVS can also launch many other products including the Apache 200. And looking at the preparations, TVS is now hurrying on their new products as the country is now coming closer to normalcy.
