TVS sales May 2022 – Numbers are in for the month and most of the segments are in deep green – mainly because of low base last year…
For TVS Motor, the sales numbers are in for the month of May 2022 and it is showing a mix of positive and negative trends when considering the numbers YoY and MoM.
The company has registered Gross Sales of 302,982 units in May 2022. TVS explains due to localised lockdowns in the month of May last year, the previous year gross sales numbers are very low to consider in the comparison.

Year-over-Year
The TVS two-wheeler sales compared from May of last year have grown overall.
Motorcycles – The motorcycle sales numbers stood at 1,48,560 units in May 2022, a growth of 18.67% compared to 1,25,188 units sold in May 2021.
Scooters – The scooter sales stood at 1,00,665 units, a rise of a massive 412.89% compared to 19,627 units sold in May 2021.
Moped – On the sample lines, the mopeds registered a growth of a significant 294.05%, rising from 9,601 units in May of last year to 37,833 units this year in May.
This totals to Domestic Sales of 1,91,482 units for May 2022. A growth of 267.64% compared to 52,084 units registered in April 2021.
The Exports of two-wheelers, however, showed a downward trend, contracting by 6.60%, decreasing from 1,02,332 units in May of previous year to 95,567 units in May 2022.

Month-over-Month
The MoM sales are a mix-bag.
Motorcycles – Compared to sales of April 2022, the motorcycle sales grew by 6.86%, up from 1,39,027 units.
Scooters – The scooter sales, however, declined MoM by 1.51%, falling from 1,02,209 units sold in the previous month.
Mopeds – Following the trend, the mopeds too declined by 2.46%, down from 38,786 units sold in the previous month.
While the Exports declined by 3.93%, contracting from 99,489 units of the previous month, the overall sales, including domestic numbers ended up in green.
