UK based maker Triumph has launched the 2021 Speed Triple 1200RS as a replacement to the Speed Triple 1050. The new bike now comes with a bigger 1160 cc engine and a whole lot of new features.
Despite a larger motor size, the bike now weighs 10 kg lesser than its predecessor. The engine itself is 7 kilos lighter than the older 1050 motor. This makes it the lightest Speed Triple ever made. The company has tweaked the styling to make it look more aggressive, and the full-LED headlamp units are now more protruding and aggressive. The fuel tank has a sleeker design that makes the bike look more compact.
The new 1160 cc motor produces 178PS of peak power at 10,750 rpm which is 30 PS higher than before. Maximum torque, at 125 Nm at 9000 rpm is also 8 Nm higher than the older model. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox equipped with bi-directional quick-shifter.
The new Triple comes with a lightweight chassis with focus on weight distribution forward and lower. It also gives the bike more aggressive riding ergonomics and makes it track focused. It gets fully-adjustable Ohlins 43mm NIX30 upside-down forks at the front and Ohlins TTX36 mono-shock at the rear.

Other features include electronic aids like cornering ABS, switchable cornering traction control, Cruise Control, Wheelie Control, five riding modes – including Rain, Road, Sport, Track, and a rider configurable mode. It also comes with a Bluetooth enabled five-inch TFT screen that offers two different themes and full keyless system. Another feature unique to Triumph is the GoPro connectivity.

Booking amount has been kept at Rs 1 Lac with limited units being available. Deliveries will commence from March-end onwards. It will be available in Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice color options.
