New ‘Relaxed’ Triumph Speed T4 Launched at 2.17 Lac

Triumph Speed T4 price makes it the most affordable Triumph model in the world. It comes with a completely new engine tune…

In a very interesting move, Triumph has introduced the new Speed T4 in the Indian market. Upon first glance you may mistake it as a variant of the Speed 400, however, T4 does come with fairly deeper changes, including an absolute new tune to the engine.

As a first, Triumph is highlighting the low-speed ‘relaxed’ nature of the T4. In order to give the motorcycle a new character, Triumph has to detune the engine and it now churns 31 PS of peak power at 7000 rpm and 36 Nm of max torque at 5000 rpm. In direct comparison with the Speed 400, these are 9 PS and 1.5 Nm down but as compared to rivals these are still very competitive.

These numbers may be lower, but the peak comes in earlier – 1000 rpm for peak power and a whole 1500 rpm for max torque. Triumph promises higher torque between 3500-5500 rpm to offer much better low-speed rideability with lesser requirement for gear changes. Triumph says that it has achieved better low rpm stability by increasing engine inertia by 30 percent as compared to Speed 400.

In its note, Triumph has been harping on different ride character and these numbers definitely suggest that the T4 will be a nicer, friendlier motorcycle – for people who love to cruise effortlessly. The company adds that the T4 also has a deeper exhaust note.

The Speed T4 comes with 43mm telescopic shock absorbers against the USDs of the Speed 400 and there are no radial tyres as well. It gets features like manual throttle body control, dual channel ABS and slipper clutch.
