Triumph is expanding its 400 cc bikes portfolio with the addition of two new motorcycles, which have been spied testing.
Triumph India is planning to expand its product portfolio in the domestic market. The British brand currently retails three middleweight motorcycles namely Speed 400, Scrambler 400X and Speed T4. It will be adding two more bikes to its arsenal, as suggested by the spy-shots, in the form of Scrambler 400X Cross Wheel and Thruxton cafe racer. Both the upcoming motorcycles have been spotted testing multiple times on the camera and in this piece, we will talk about these new models in detail.
Talking about the Scrambler 400X with cross spoked wheels, it also flaunted a small beak upfront. The advantage of cross spoke wheels is that they can be shod with tubeless tyres. However, reports suggest that cross spoke wheels will be available as an after-market accessory as the standard version will continue to be offered with alloy wheels.

The existing customers will also have the option of switching to cross spoke wheels. It will be the second motorcycle in its segment in the Indian market to get these after the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Triumph Scrambler 400X was launched nearly two years back in 2023. It was the second motorcycle emerging out of the Bajaj-Triumph partnership.
Coming to the Thruxton cafe racer, it was spotted alongside the Scrambler 400X Cross Wheel. The spy images indicate that it is almost production-ready and a launch is imminent. The bike borrows styling cues from the bigger Speed Triple 1200 RR. It is not confirmed as of now whether it will indeed be called the ‘Thruxton’ or the company will go for a different name.

The cafe racer will share several cycle elements with the Speed 400. However, in order to maintain its individuality, the bike will boast of multiple unique components such as clip-on handlebars, bar end mirrors, a single-piece seat and a sculpted fuel tank. In addition, the rear profile will get a fresh design with a rectangle-shaped tail-lamp cluster and simpler grab rail.
Mechanically, the Thruxton 400 will use the same 398 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine with identical power and torque figures of 40 bhp and 37.5 Nm, respectively. It will be positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X which are priced at Rs 2.40 lakh and Rs 2.65 lakh (Both prices are ex-showroom), respectively, in the Indian market.
