Last month Atul Gupta, Vice President of Suzuki Motorcycles, in an interview said that they do NOT have any bigger Gixxer planned for at least 12-18 months since they would want to concentrate on the current 150cc twins which are getting them sales (more details). However, a speculative report at Zigwheels.com claims that Suzuki is, in fact, working on a 250cc Gixxer.
They further add that Gixxer 250 will carry a 250cc single cylinder motor and expect power figures to hover around 25 to 28 PS. This will, hence, be an all-new engine and is being manufactured in India and will come mated to a 6-speed transmission.
They say that it will not be an outright sporty motorcycle sharing design cues from the naked Gixxer 150. Plonking a fairing will obviously need a minor niptuck and in its concept form expect the motorcycle to be showcased at the Auto Expo of 2016, followed by its launch sometime towards the end of (next) year.
This rarely happens that a particular motorcycle excels in almost all parameters, but Gixxer 150 happens to be our favorite (commuter) 150cc in the market at the moment. It is Suzuki’s first official big hit and a lot of aficionados have been asking for a more powerful version.

A 250cc Suzuki makes for a terrific reading and the timeline of its launch also doesn’t exactly clash with Atul Gupta’s statements, however, we have our reservations and suggest you to take this news with caution. We will wait for a more consistent or concrete source….. 🙂
