SPIED: Fully Faired Gixxer Caught Testing; All Out to Kill Fazer or R15?

After putting up a strong fight against the Yamaha’s FZ, as has been in the air, Suzuki has started testing its Fazer/R15 nemesis – a faired version of Gixxer which may be called as GSX150R! This would be the first fully faired mass-production motorcycle in India by Suzuki. It is a little confusing whether this will be an outright mini-sportsbike like the R15 or will just be a fairing-addition to the Gixxer to make it a nice little tourer (please note we are NOT saying Fazer is one!)!

Suzuki-Gixxer-Full-Faired

This spy picture by a MotorBeam reader reveals a typical Suzuki fairing front and the rest of the design remains pretty much the same as that of the Gixxer. The same sharply sculpted fuel tank, well contoured seats (which still remains as a single unit and are not dual split ones), exhaust canister which manages to look sporty and identical wheels.

That camouflaged front is what we are here for – the fairing which does have resemblance to a few big Suzuki’s we have seen. This GSX150, if it will be called so, is expected to carry over the same 154.9cc engine from Gixxer which produces 14.8 PS of maximum power and 14 Nm of peak torque. We do not know at this point if there will be any changes but considering that Suzuki is out in the open testing the motorcycle, we do expect some surprises!

The rear grab rail appears to be a single unit which is a little different and sportier on the Gixxer!

The naked streetfighter Gixxer, tips the scale at just 135 kilos, making it one of the lightest motorcycle in the segment. This new faired Gixxer will definitely have a few kilograms of extra weight and it will be interesting to see how Suzuki manages to optimize it for better performance, nulling the extra weight.

Launch can definitely be expected to take place  next year, possibly sometime during the second quarter.
