People who are eagerly waiting for TVS to launch its ‘Adventure’ motorbike (if there are any!) would be disappointed to know that the bike that was spotted testing a couple days back in India is the Indonesia-spec TVS Max 125!
This is a confirmation that it is a 125cc commuter with a raised front mudguard, and off-road tires. TVS has launched this bike in Indonesia as ‘Max Sport Semi Trail’ while its city version is just called the TVS Max, which is different than the Max4 sold in India by TVS.
We’ll only talk about the ‘trail’ bike here and its execution actually looks far better than the Hero Passion Pro TR’s, which is the bike that this TVS would compete with if the Chennai-based company plans to launch it here anytime soon. Of course, only a closer look in flesh and metal would reveal any differences in quality of both the bikes, but on first impressions, it’s the TVS that looks more sensible!
This bike also comes with a petal-disc up front, half chain cover, and the rear shocks seem to have been taken from the Indian TVS Phoenix 125. The engine appears to be the same motor from Phoenix as well, which develops 11PS at 8,000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The Indonesian site’s description matches these specifications save for the last one where it says that the peak torque is delivered at 500 revs less.

I have said this earlier too and seriously, I really can’t understand what is stopping TVS from launching a 250cc on/off-road bike despite being one of the first companies in India to have continually raced 250cc dirt bikes down south, and that too with great success! I so hope that the TVS tie-up with BMW results in a mini GS650 sort of a motorcycle soon…
