Smaller Honda Africa Twin 850 Under Works..?

Honda Africa Twin 850 rumors have surfaced on the internet along with a speculative rendering pic. It will help expand the CRF brand portfolio…

When it comes to adventure tourers, the Honda Africa Twin is gaining a lot of popularity in the world. And looks like Honda intends to create it as a brand with more motorcycles spaced out at different cubic capacities.

There is a latest rumor which claims that Honda is planning to launch an 850 cc variant of the ADV. Timeline? As early as the coming year, 2021!

Honda already sells the Africa Twin with a 1,084 cc engine, and it is christened as the CRF 1100L Africa Twin. In fact, the engine has gotten bigger in its recent iteration. This further adds fuel to fire. This upping of displacement could have been done to create space for a smaller near-850cc version. The Africa Twin 850, is then, expected to be placed between the CB 500X and CRF 1100L.

It is said that Honda is working on developing an all-new engine with its capacity varying between 800-850 cc, to power the upcoming motorcycle. Like the elder brother, the 850 may continue with a twin cylinder motor with liquid cooling and advanced fuel injection systems.

In order to be future ready, the engine will have to be Euro 5 compliant (which is similar to the Indian BS6 emission norms). Expect it to belt out around 90 bhp of peak power.

The feature list may include a 6.5-inch TFT instrument console (as seen on the 1100L), equipped with Apple CarPlay. That apart, since this is an ADV motorcycle, cruise control is expected to be offered standard.
