Simple Energy One E-Scooters Delayed Again; Deliveries Pushed To Q1 2023

Simple Energy One delivery delayed might be too much for customers who have been waiting for more than a year for their vehicles…

Once again EV startup Simple Energy have delayed the start of deliveries of their long-awaited S1 electric scooters by nearly 3 more months, at least.

Simple Energy have announced the delay in the commencement of deliveries of their One electric scooters. They have pushed the deliveries to Q1 2023, i.e. anywhere from January to March 2023.

This will be the EV startup’s 3 rd announced delay after their grand launch on August 15, 2021. The deliveries were promised to begin in December 2021, which were then postponed to June 2022 and the latest delivery timeline was set for September 2022.

The reason stated by Simple Energy for this further delay of 3 months is the new battery safety guideline introduced recently by MoRTH.

A few months back Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) announced some safety guidelines regarding new EVs poised to be launched in India. Citing these new safety guidelines as the reason, Simple Energy have decided to further delay the handing over of their electric scooter to their new owners.

Simple Energy says that their decision to delay the delivery will allow them to ensure that the Simple One electric scooter complies with the new safety standards. Do note, the reason for previous delays cited by the company was also safety concerns.

The company spokesman stated – “Keeping in mind the safety standards and the recent incidents in the EV industry, Simple had taken a conscious call of deferring the deliveries of the ONE”.

Definitely, the news of the further delay of Simple One electric scooters will not sit well with prospective buyers and existing ones alike. Those customers who booked these electric scooters just after launch have been waiting to get their hands on their vehicles for over a year as of the present. This further 3-month delay might be the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

Simple Energy also have to be wary of other EV manufacturers and their new products being introduced in the meantime. Ather Energy is already offering their 3rd Gen of 450 series of electric scooters. Ola is poised to launch a more affordable 3rd S1 electric scooter this month while Hero Vida electric scooters have already been announced.

Mind you, these above-mentioned scooters are offering really good value & features, especially the 3rd Gen Ather 450X & 450 Plus electric scooters.
