Dot One Finally Launched; Costs 40K More

There is an interesting story that can be developed on the Simple Dot One price. It would probably be the first 2-wheeler to get a 40% hike in a matter of few days..

Simple Energy is definitely one maker with a lot of potential. The good thing is that they are not hurrying up on their products. But the problem is that they are not able to get all things sorted and that is creating problems for them.

Barely have they started delivering their flagship One scooter, after multiple delays, the company has come up with another scooter called as Dot One. The Dot One is an offshoot of the One and looks identical as well.

Interestingly, Simple announced the Dot One at an introductory price tag of Rs 99,999 earlier this month but that was only for people who had already booked the One and wanted to switch to the new Dot One. It cleared that the scooter will get a permanent price that will be higher.

Everybody expected that the final price would be about 10-15K higher. However, in a press note received moments back, Simple has surprised by announcing the new Dot One at Rs 1,39,999 ex-showroom Bangalore – which is whopping 40,000 higher than the introductory price. This would probably be the first time in the industry that there is a difference of 40 percent in the introductory and the permanent price tag of any vehicle!

The Dot One looks very similar to this flagship One…

This makes the Dot One only about 5000 cheaper than the One and that, again, makes us question the move? What is the purpose of introducing the Dot One at such a negligible price difference with the One.

Anyway, the Dot One will be open for pre-bookings for existing bookers of the One from 1st January onwards whereas the pre-bookings open for everyone in Bangalore from 27th January onwards – all of this at the fresh price of Rs 1,39,999.

Simple has, yet again, failed to mention proper delivery timelines for the new scooter as well. The company informs that the Dot One is a completely made in India product and has a certified range of 151 km. You can read more about the product in our earlier article.
