Royal Enfield to Launch Himalayan Next Year; Promises One BIG Product Every Year

The last big bang launch by Royal Enfield was the immense-fun Continental GT (read review) back in 2013. At the event, they alerted us – ‘this is just the beginning of many interesting things to come‘! Fast forward to 2015 and we have constant waves of a Royal Enfield Adventure motorcycle which is touted to be called as the Himalayan.

Many spyshots of the motorcycle have surfaced in the recent times and continuing on his earlier stand, Siddharth Lal, MD of Royal Enfield, has again reiterated in an interview to Economic Times, that they will start launching new products from next year. He, in fact said, that there will be one BIG product from the company every year in the next 3 to 5 years. And all the upcoming motorcycles will be confined to the 250 to 750 cc segment.

This simply means that Himalayan is scheduled for launch sometime next year and going by his wordings, it will be ‘a full new product’. This will also mean that bigger motorcycles, possibly with a double cylinder engine (check spyshots), will be coming in 2017 and thereafter.

Siddharth Lal also said that they are consistently increasing their production capacity and their peak waiting periods have come down from 9 months to 5. Towards the beginning of next year Royal Enfield will have the capacity to produce 50,000 motorcycles a month.
