First ever Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 spy pics have surfaced on the internet – a dual cylinder mid-sized, well-priced ADV is coming…!
Way back around or before the 2020 big shots at Royal Enfield had commented about a bigger Himalayan. The Himalayan, till a few months ago, was the 410 version. The Chennai based maker has now discontinued that model and introduced a much more powerful, and slightly bigger, Himalayan 450.
But there has always been chirps of the dual cylinder Himalayan 650 and this is the first time that such a motorcycle has been snapped testing in India. It is not known if it will still be called as the Himalayan or something else but for ease of understanding let us stick to this nomenclature.
The Himalayan 650 here clearly sports Royal Enfield’s 650cc dual cylinder engine with a two into one exhaust outlet configuration. The exhaust canister is almost vertically upswept and very close to the pillion seat. Interestingly, unlike the current Himalayan’s big 21 inch front tyre, this bigger Himalayan is running on a smaller sized tyre. Its exact size can not be ascertained at this point but chances are that it could be a 19 incher going by the global convention – which will make it a more versatile ADV.
Another bit to note here is that dual disc set-up at the front – which will be a first for an India-made motorcycle. As a trademark, you have spoke wheels here and premiumness will be rounded off with those chunky upside down front forks. The test mule that we have here sports a semi-fairing and on top of that is a similar looking instrument console.
Is This Royal Enfield Bear 650? Coming Next…
About the launch timeframe we have to consider two things. One, that Royal Enfield has many products lined-up for market launch and two, this looks like an early test mule (which can also be ascertained by the fact that it has been snapped out on the roads for the first time). So, a market entry can be expected only sometime late next year or probably after that.
But what this brings to the table is – the prospect of having an extremely potent, multi cylinder mid-sized ADV at never-seen-before prices! MUSIC….
