Want a Ronin Scrambler? TVS Just Showcased One at MotoSoul 2023

Though there is no confirmation but I believe Ronin Scrambler launch is definitely planned by TVS. How similar it remains to this SCR project remains to be seen though…

It was a fun filled last weekend in Goa as TVS called in the media, customers, dealer partners and its fans – a whole big bunch of people – to its second MotoSoul – an event that brings together the complete TVS community amidst a lot of biking activities apart from music and other performances by renowned artists.

The company also took this arena to showcase as many as four custom versions of Ronin – its newest motorcycle platform that was introduced few months ago. There were two – Agonda (customized by JvB Moto, Germany) and Musashi (done by Smoked Garage, Indonesia) – that were overseas jobs. And the remaining two – Wakizashi (by Rajputana customers) and SCR were Indian projects. Among these the SCR was the pick of the lot and grabbed the maximum eyeballs.

Ronin Scrambler launch

The SCR, according to TVS, stands for Special Custom Ronin, however, it clearly is a short for Scrambler – a genre that TVS may be targeting. And while we are at it, let me also tell you that the Ronin SCR was TVS’ internal project. I also overheard that it has inputs from people who made Yezdi scrambler (however, I do not have any confirmation on this).

The SCR had dual barrel upswept exhaust, semi-knobby tyres, redone seat, fresh side panels, raised front mudguard and a massive ground clearance on offer. And unlike the commercially available Ronin roadster (watch review here), the SCR donned spoke wheels that should add more off-road friendliness to it. One of my keen eyed friend also noted ‘MotoSoul‘ written on the glass of that LED headlamp.

Now, TVS is obviously tight-lipped about it but my gut feel says that the company is definitely eyeing this space and the next Ronin could, very well, be a Scrambler – as this segment fits the bill for classic motorcycles. And with the kind of response the SCR received, TVS must be pushing the top decision makers already!

Here is a quick video of the Ronin SCR that I did from the venue..

I think this is just a glimpse of the new Ronin Scrambler and, while other projects may just be brand building, something on the lines of the SCR is coming…
