In a latest move, a new Ronin cruiser has been design patented by TVS; we discuss the details and what we see…
TVS is banking on the newly created Ronin platform that has so far spawned the very interesting Ronin roadster. Through this brand, it intends to create its place in the lifestyle motorcycle segment and take a pie out of Royal Enfield’s massive share.
The Ronin is a brilliant motorcycle, however, as soon as it was introduced, Royal Enfield threw its ace by introducing the Hunter at very aggressive prices. This must have hampered the growth of the TVS’ debut model, but the Chennai based maker is already working on its second product on this platform.
As you can see in the featured image, TVS has patented a new motorcycle that looks absolutely like Ronin from the front. It shares the design of its handlebar, levers, round headlamp, upside down front forks, etc with the Ronin. The meter console, that is a separate entity on the Ronin, is not visible here.
Few portals are confused and calling it a bigger engine – to the extent of saying this could be a 650 – just because Royal Enfield has one. However, of whatever is visible in this pic, the outers appear to be very similar to the Ronin’s 225cc motor and I don’t think TVS would just jump on to such a big displacement, leapfrogging the 250, 300, 400ccs altogether.
One prominent portal said that this appears to be ‘in its early days‘, but this is almost a replica of the Ronin – you put both the pictures side by side and see for yourself!

BikeAdvice’s Opinion
Considering that the Ronin is a roadster design (with a few scramblerish bits), this could be a proper cruiser from TVS and could carry similar underpinings. With a similar capacity engine, this could target the Avenger on one end and Meteor 350 on the other.
Now that TVS has got a fair bit of idea of this segment, it will be interesting to see how the brand makes things even more interesting with the new Ronin Cruiser…
