Retail November 2023 2-Wheeler sales are out and Hero has emerged at the top with big increase in sales compared to last November…
FADA (The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations) has just released the monthly retail sales data for the month of November 2023 and there is big feastive cheer clearly visible in the numbers. As many as 22.47 Lac 2-wheelers were sold in the month which is a record and it is after three long years we were able to get back on track by the jolt of the COVID as well as the incessant price increments due to various regulations.
With the exception of small players like Classic Legends and Piaggio all other makers witnessed brilliant increase in their numbers as compared to the last November. Yes, for various reasonns Jawa and Yezdi are not working in India and we have discussed it earlier.

However, the star of the show was clearly Hero MotoCorp! The country’s largest seller went onto achieve whopping sales of 8.02 Lac and these are retails and not dealer dispatches – which means we are talking about actual units that were registered with buyers. Last November, Hero sold 6.38 Lac units which infers a gain of 1.65 Lakh units (or about 26 percent) – more than the combined monthly sales of Suzuki and Royal Enfield!
Second place holder and arch-rival Honda registered total sales of 5.13 Lac units, up from 4.63 Lac units of November 2022. It gained about 50,000 units or almost 11 percent. But with remarkable sales the gap between the two makers increased to almost 3 Lac units!

TVS Motor and Bajaj also witnessed fairly big sales increments each and ended the month with 3.65 Lac units and 2.74 Lac units respectively. The following three Suzuki, Royal Enfield and Yamaha also maintained their positions and registered total sales of 82,443 units, 81,319 units and 63,781 units respectively.

Festivities and marriage season are seen as the main reasons for the increase in numbers of two-wheeler sales, however, weather disturbance on Rabi cultivation is seen as a threat in the near term.
