The much anticipated KTM Duke 390 launch in India is around the corner. The KTM Duke series of smaller machines will soon be seen in fresh set of Dual Sport clothes.

The Dual Purpose role will soon be seen in the Duke Platform models starting from their 125cc, the available Duke 200 in India, going all the way up to the latest offering to come, the Duke 390. While any major details are yet to be revealed, it can be expected that India might at least witness the Duke 200 and 390 in Dual purpose avatar sometime in future.

Although the Touring segment in India is niche and not as developed as in foreign countries, we believe that it would soon catch up with dual sport offerings like what KTM has to offer in the future. With Dual Sport motorcycles in India it will also encourage a lot of tourers to switch to a more practical way of touring as Indian manufacturers haven’t taken a serious step in touring segment motorcycles other than the much renowned Royal Enfield and Hero MotoCorp’s Karizma which are considered a tourers delight.

The Dual Sport offerings in Duke platform would be expected with a whole lot of touring needs like bigger Fuel tanks, higher fairings or bubble screen to minimize wind resistance, better dual sport tyres, factory fitted panniers and more. As India is the hub for Duke 200 and 390, with Bajaj in hand and with heavy localization of components the pricing also can be substantially reduced is what we believe.

It is expected that the Dual Sport Duke’s will join hands with the KTM’s bigger Dual Sport offering the “Adventure” series in future soon.
