Pulsar 125 Is The Second Largest Selling Motorcycle in 125cc Space

Pulsar 125 sales have skyrocketed and it has now comprehensively beaten the 125cc duo of Glamour and Super Splendor from Hero…

After a lot of boardroom talks, Bajaj decided to expand the Pulsar brand sphere and it moved up the ladder with two 250cc models. In what was a gamble that could have hurt the brand Pulsar, Bajaj also brought it down to the 125cc segment.

However, that gamble has paid off and Pulsar 125 has become a rage in the market. In fact, so much so, that today it is the second largest selling motorcycle in the segment, just under the Honda Shine 125. Yes, the earlier mass sellers from Hero – Super Splendor and Glamour have received big setbacks and are doing dismal sales as compared to their earlier tallies.

Here are the numbers…

As you can see, the baby Pulsar has amassed fantastic sales of over 4 lakh units in the first six months of this fiscal – which is an average of over 67,000 units a month. In fact, in the month of May 2023, it achieved higher sales than the segment-king Shine 125.

125 is the only segment where Bajaj doesn’t have a new-gen Pulsar yet…

These numbers are way higher than Hero MotoCorp’s Super Splendor as well as Glamour and clearly Bajaj has eaten into Hero’s share here.

According to the official website, the Pulsar 125 is offered in three variants – Neon Single Seat and Carbon Fiber Split Seat for the standard model and the sportier Pulsar NS125. The range starts at Rs 84,013 ex-showroom Delhi.

In essence, Pulsar 125 has become the goto Pulsar for mass buyers who wanted to own the Pulsar brand and they earlier had to stretch their budget to get the Pulsar 150. Needless to say that it (the P125) is the largest selling Pulsar in Bajaj’s portfolio now.

And though Bajaj may be happy at the 125 achieving this feat, but its unique problem of ‘people not moving onto new Pulsars‘ is clearly haunting it in some or the other way.

We have also discussed the phenomenal rise of the TVS Raider in this story. Raider has also beaten both the Glamour and Super Splendor in this segment.
