So, a few days back we reported that Ola Electric have started opening offline retail stores, which they call ‘Ola Experience Centres’, and aim to establish 200 such stores by March 2023. Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal (CEO, Ola Electric) himself announced these new Ola retail stores and their plans for the future as well.

However, when asked by one of the followers regarding the Diwali launch plans (which will include MoveOS 3, Hypercharge announcement, accessories etc.), Mr. Aggarwal confirmed the Diwali launch event along with hinting that ‘There may be more announcements than these three’  with a winking emoji at the end.

Ola Electric Might Launch Affordable S1 Electric Scooter To Rival Honda Activa This Diwali

Mr. Aggarwal has been trying to push a new hashtag through his Twitter account  – #EndICEAge – hinting that they want to end the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) age through their aggressive approach to accelerate the adoption of Electric Mobility.

Now, according to an online portal and their sources, Ola could be launching a more affordable S1 electric scooter during Diwali Days which could be a direct competitor to one of the most popular two-wheeler options in India – Honda Activa.

These sources shared that there could be a 3rd model to join the S1 electric scooter lineup this Diwali and it could be the most affordable model offered by the company.

The new more affordable S1 electric scooter will be retaining the USP features like Bluetooth smartphone connectivity and riding modes. However, it is expected that not all features will be offered on this electric scooter.

Furthermore, with an aim to keep the prices low, Ola could use a smaller battery in place of the 3 kWh unit seen on the S1. This could bring the expected range down to around 100 km. This will be on par with the rival base electric models -, TVS iQube S with the claimed range of 100 km, Ather 450X Gen 3 with claimed 105 km & Bajaj Chetak claiming around 90 km.

It will be interesting to see how Ola Electric will push their new #EndICEAge campaign and how effective their plan and offerings will be to bring this change. There could also be some more news regarding the development of their 1st electric car as well.

Let’s wait and watch…
