OFFICIAL – Discover 150S (& 150F) Launch on 11 August

We have received the official invite for the launch of Bajaj’s upcoming most affordable 150ccs – Discover 150S and though it doesn’t specifically mention but it should also include the faired Discover 150F. And the launch date is next week on Monday, the 11th of August.

Our team member from Delhi, Neelanjan has already taken the naked Discover 150S for a quick ride and shared the first impressions review with our readers. As for the faired Discover 150F, what you see here are the exclusive uncamouflaged pic of the upcoming bike (more here).

If you check the Bajaj website you’ll see there are now ‘only’ six motorcycles left under the Discover brand so these two will take that number up to eight. That would be again a lot of Discovers, but for a change at least one would stand out from the lot and that would be the one with the fairing.

These new Discovers are expected to be placed over the current flagship Discover 125T (125ST has been axed) and may just end up whiskers below or around the Pulsar 135LS. We already know unofficially that the Discover 150S disc is priced at around Rs 55,000 and the drum brake is expected to be about 3-4,000 lesser. The Pulsar 135LS starts at about Rs 59,291 and hence expect the 150F to be a shade under this (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

As for the on-road prices, the 150S is priced at Rs 63,217 on road in Delhi which makes it a terrific value-for-money proposition and the cheapest 150cc motorcycle you can buy. And that’s for the disc-brake version people; the drum-brake variant will work out to be under 60 thousand bucks!

What’s more interesting is that these new Discovers are entry level motorcycles but still produce more power than the more premium ones like the FZ v2 or even the Unicorn, Xtreme and Hunk. Most probably the fuel efficiency will be higher as well.

Add to it a price difference of 15-20 thousand rupees (or more!), and ignoring the mono suspension, jazzy design, and ‘image’ of some of the ‘premium’ offerings in the segment, these 150cc Discovers may make a lot of sense. The other good news is that we will be riding both the new Discovers – 150S and 150F on 12th August in the media ride organised by Bajaj and will share a detailed review as soon as possible.
