SCREAMER! 399cc, 80 PS – The Ninja ZX-4RR is Here!

All-new Ninja ZX4RR launch in India doesn’t look possible but what a cracker of motorcycle this one would be…!!!

After various speculations and rumors, it is here! Kawasaki has unveiled the all new ZX-4RR for the world. It bridges the gap between the ZX-25R and ZX-6R.

What is Special…?

The ZX-4RR is equipped with a high-revving, liquid cooled, DOHC, 4-valve, four cylinder 399cc engine – yes its an in-line four! This makes it the only full faired supersport 400 in the world that sports a 4 cylinder engine! By high revving, we mean it can do over 15,000 rpm on the tacho! This screamer churns whopping 77 PS of peak power which gets increased to 80 PS with RAM air intake which is phenomenal for a sub 400cc motorcycle! Max torque is 36 Nm which comes at 11,000 rpm.

Prominent features include Assist and Slipper Clutch, Kawasaki Traction Control, Kawasaki Quick Shifter, etc. ZX-4RR gets four power modes – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider. It comes with a 4.3 inch color TFT instrumentation that offers smartphone pairability.

The ZX-4RR weighs 188 kilos kerb. It is 78.4 inch long, 30.1 inch wide and 43.7 inch high and has a wheelbase of 54.3 inch. It has a ground clearance of 5.3 inch and seat height stands at 31.5 inch.

Only one color – Line Green/Ebony is on offer in the US where it has been launched. It is priced at $9699 which is roughly 7.95 Lac in INR. The ZX-10R is priced at $17,399 there. For reference, the liter class screamer from Kawasaki costs INR 16.15 Lac in India – which means the ZX-4RR is a near 9 Lac motorcycle in Indian terms – which in turn infers that it may never come here!

When the world is killing the ICE tech, accolades to Kawasaki for bringing the four-cylinder tech in smaller capacity engines! Wish we could ride one, one day…

What we can though is the twin cylinder Ninja 400 that is already on sale here in India. How is it doing in its second innings – check here
