New Unicorn 150 Leaked; Patented in India [Speculation]

A surprise leak of a Honda’s commuter-like motorcycle claimed to be the next Unicorn 150 has surfaced at Rushlane. If this indeed is the new Unicorn 150, this will be the first major change the motorcycle will receive ever since its first introduction more than a decade ago.

Unicorn 160 was intended to be the official replacement of Unicorn 150 but Honda had to undo its decision due to lacklustre demand for the 160 cc motorcycle. Unicorn 150 was relaunched at the Auto Expo 2016 and ever since then it has managed to outdo its elder sibling.

There is no denying the fact that people love Unicorn 150 in its current form, however what is worrying is the question that will linger on Honda’s top honchos’ minds – “Will India accept a new Unicorn 150?”

And this is precisely the reason, the patent pic of the motorcycle reveals a conservative design and clearly Honda intends to play safe. The only flashy bit about it is the alloy wheels the motorcycle adorns. In the final production version, we expect Honda to offer regular grab rails (in place of the split ones featured in this motorcycle), full chain cover etc.

But what is surprising is the lack of disc brakes. There is no way Honda can offer a 150 cc motorcycle with optional disc brakes in today’s world and this also makes us slightly wary about the claim – is this really the new Unicorn 150?

Unicorn 150 has remained untouched in terms of changes ever since its launch…

The report claims that this new Unicorn 150 is expected to be launched towards the end of this year.
