Suzuki’s everyday commuter motorcycle, Hayate has received a minor cosmetic upgrade. It seems like Suzuki is planning to refresh their entire line-up to attract more limelight and get its share of the festive season pie.
The update is limited to just a minor knick-knack which includes:
- New body graphics
- Body coloured side cowl (the previous version had it in black)
- Tubeless tires (much needed)
- Maintenance free battery
Mechanically it remains completely unchanged. The 112.8cc air cooled SOHC engine continues to produces 8.4PS of power @7500rpm and 8.8Nm of torque @5500rpm. The engine is focused towards efficiency, aiming to squeeze out more kilometres per litre of fuel and is mated with a 4 speed transmission. The bike though does not get the fancy Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) treatment. The 10.5L fuel tank also allows the Hayate to have a long range!
New Hayate Color Options:
The Hayate, which in Japanese means ‘fresh breeze’ or ‘swift wind’, is available in the following five colours:
- Glass Sparkle Black- Red Graphic
- Glass Sparkle Black- Blue Graphic
- Pearl Mirage White
- Pearl Mira Red-Glass Sparkle Black
- Pearl Moon Stone Grey
The light weight 114kg kerb weight and 165mm of ground clearance makes it a good everyday commuter. The 5-step adjustable suspension further aims to make the ride smooth and convenient.
New Hayate Price:
The new Hayate has been priced at Rs 45,245 for the kick start version while the kick and self-start version has been priced at Rs 49,315 (both prices on-road Delhi). The prices include a mirror set, sari guard and leg guard.
Suzuki recently gave a similar refreshment to its 125cc automatic scooter, Access, and is set to launch its FZ rival Gixxer in the premium 150cc segment on September 9.
