The two wheeler 100-110cc commuter segment in the country is ruled by Hero MotoCorp. However, Honda’s Shine is the largest selling 125cc in the country. To carry out the salvo against the erstwhile partner, Hero has launched updated Super Splendor and Glamour.
The update to the Super Splendor is not really an evolution but a very generic cosmetic enhancement. Interestingly, Hero has shed the optional disc brakes for reasons best known to them!
The new black alloy wheels, body graphics and new colour options are the other changes. The inclusion of a stand indicator in the instrumentation cluster is a good add-on though.
Hero Super Splendor Engine & Price:
It continues to be powered by the same 124.7cc which produces only 9.12PS of power and 10.35Nm of torque and is mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 51,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Hero Super Splendor Colour Options:
The new Hero Super Splendor is available in a choice of 6 colour options:
- Candy Blazing Red
- Graphite Black
- Heavy Grey
- Vibrant Blue
- Black with Fiery Red
- Black with Electric Purple
2014 Hero Super Splendor Brochure & Technical Specs
In the new updated trim, the new Super Splendor looks a lot like Passion but unfortunately, the specs and changes do not seem to be exciting even a wee bit. With segment-least power/torque figures and about average performance, Super Splendor thrives on durability and consistency. But with increasing competition, how long will Hero be able to hold on to their drab 125cc motorcycle, remains a question!
