Kawasaki has brought to India the international replacement of the Z800 – the bigger and meaner Z900! It was unveiled at EICMA 2016 and continues with the SUGOMI philosophy, more endearing now! Let us admit that Z900 looks only second to the Z1000 in terms of aggression. Let us quickly delve into the details of the motorcycle.
Z900 Engine
Z900 comes with a 948 cc in-line four cylinder liquid cooled BS4-compliant engine which churns out 125 PS of peak power at 9500 rpm and 98.6 Nm of maximum torque at 7700 rpm. This is 12 PS and 16 Nm more than Z800 but more importantly it (Z900) produces higher torque and power at all rpms than the outgoing 800! The bigger motor is mounted on a new lightweight tube trellis frame with an aluminium swingarm.
In terms of features it comes with assist and slipper clutch, gear shift indicator, Z-type LED tail lamp, 5-spoke alloy wheels and a 3-mode selectable tachometer. Z900 also gets 300 mm twin discs with four Piston calipers from Nissin upfront and a single 250 mm petal disc brake at the rear – both aided by dual-channel ABS (standard). Z900 has a kerb weight of 210.5 kg and a seat height of 795 mm.
