The Duke 200 and 390 have already mesmerised us Indian biking souls and are currently the most favourite performance oriented bikes in India. And if you thought KTM will end up with this and the faired RC series, you were mighty wrong.

Bajaj KTM organised an event in India which they termed as “Freewheeling & Interactive” session in Delhi yesterday. We were present at the venue and were reporting live at our official Facebook page. And that is when the announcement came! KTM has plans to launch the elder sibling 690 Duke in India. But the time frame they have said is 2015 ie in a couple of years.

KTM already manufactures the 125, 200 and 390 Dukes in India and it gets imperative that KTM will start producing it locally in India before launching it for our roads to keep costs under check.

Duke 690 is a 690cc big single cylinder 4 stroke motor which produces 67 hp and gets a 6 speed gearbox. Continuing with its lighter body weights, Duke 690 also tips at 149.5 kgs only and thankfully it has a higher 14 liters of total fuel tank capacity.

Duke 690 appears to be a lovely middle weight sub 700cc naked monster for Indian biking enthusiasts and its confirmation from the company itself reveals that KTM is real interested in the Indian market.

Rejoice, will you!
