KTM Chetak version is also expected to look a lot more sharper than the current Italian styling of the Bajaj’s electric scoot…
The return of Chetak has been the most talked about news in the electric two-wheeler arena. The scooter looks swashbuckling and will go on sale in January in India with a wider presence expected in a year or so. But that is not everything we will see of Chetak.
Instead of just being a mere product, Bajaj and KTM are using it as a platform which will spawn more electric vehicles in the future. According to a new report, at the culmination of the Chetak Electric Yatra in Pune, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, revealed that a high performance version of Chetak is also under works.
Further, he revealed that it will be sold under the premium KTM and/or Husqvarna’s name plate to justify its price and positioning. KTM showcased E-Speed electric scooter as a concept many years back but it has not produced one till date. Apart from performance enhancement, KTM’s version of Chetak is expected to carry a different design as well which may be sharper and more aligned to KTM’s design philosophy we have been seeing.

The scoot is likely in the early stages of development and hence we do not expect KTM to launch it anytime soon in the market. It will be an international-spec product for different markets of the world.
