KTM 390 Adventure to Launch in 2019? The Wait Continues!

The 390 series of KTMs jointly developed by the Austrian bike maker and India’s Bajaj has been a force which the motorcycle industry across the globe has learnt to respect. Both the naked and faired sibling have been a star performer and are set to gain company in the form of an adventure variant. Yes, the KTM 390 Adventure has been talked about for a long time now, but new information has cropped up about the bike.

Overdrive reveals that the company officials have told them that the KTM 390 Adventure will make an appearance only in 2019. Now that seems like a long time away right? But does it make sense? Well if updates for the naked range (especially the Duke 390) is coming this year at EICMA, 2017 will ideally be the age of the faired siblings. That gives them a two-year time slot to develop the bike.

The report adds that the KTM 390 Adventure would not be a minor modification of the Duke 390 with a longer travel suspension. The engineers did try that but the seat height became too high for comfort and the rise in ground clearance was not exciting enough. Unlike the slight modification required between the naked and the faired 390s, the KTM 390 Advenutre needs a major rework of the chassis.
