The off-road specific 390 Adventure R will come with longer suspension travel, higher ground clearance and bigger wheel setup in India
KTM India will launch the 390 Adventure R in January 2026 in the country. This confirmation comes from the brand at the ongoing 2025 India Bike Week (IBW) in Panchgani. The official bookings for the off-road biased model are likely to begin in the next few days while the customer deliveries could be initiated from next month in the Indian market. KTM 390 Adventure R is the hardcore off-roading version of the standard bike as it comes with longer suspension travel, higher ground clearance and bigger wheel setup.
The standard version of the 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and hence, the KTM 390 Adventure R price could be slightly higher than this. Just so you know, the global-spec Enduro R was priced around Rs 20,000 more than the regular model of the 390 Enduro. KTM could follow a similar approach in case of the 390 Adventure R.
Starting with the suspension, the 390 Adventure R will have 230 mm of wheel travel at both the ends as compared to 390 Adventure which has 200 mm and 205 mm suspension travel at front and rear, respectively. While the 390 Adventure S is offered with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, the upcoming 390 Adventure S will be fitted with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire spoke wheel setup.

It will have a much higher ground clearance of 272 mm as compared to 237 mm of the 390 Adventure S. Tipping the weighing scale at 176 kg, the 390 Adventure R is nearly 6 kg ligher than the standard version. Apart from the suspension, wheel and ground clearance, the 390 Adventure R will be identical to the regular 390 Adventure in terms of design and features. KTM 390 Adventure R will have a saddle height of 870 mm.
At the heart, it will have the same 398.6cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which develops top power of 44 bhp and peak torque of 39 Nm. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The stopping power will come from 320 mm front disc brake with Bybre-sourced dual-piston calipers and 240 mm rear disc brake with single-piston caliper.

Meanwhile, at the ongoing 2025 IBW, KTM announced the first Indian Adventure Rally which will be headlined by global adventure riding icon Chris Birch. The five-day long rally from 27 February to 3 March will be hosted on the West Coast in Goa. Bringing together over 120 riders for adventure riding experience, it will be led by KTM Global Ambassador Chris Birch.
