Triumph Bonneville 400 Spotted in India, New Details Inside

Triumph Bonneville 400 will be pitted against the mighty Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the Indian market as it launches in the next few months

We recently told you that Triumph Bonneville 400 would be launched in Q4 2026 in the Indian market. Now, the bike has been spotted undisguised in India by folks at Powerdrift, ahead of its launch in the country. The Bonneville 400 captured on camera flaunts a retro look as it gets chrome-studded crank-case and exhaust pipe while riding on wire-spoke wheels. The overall styling is inspired by the bigger Bonneville models of 900cc and 1200cc as the old-school charm of these motorcycles is visible in the smallest Bonneville till date.

Triumph Bonneville 400 will be pitted against the mighty Royal Enfield Classic 350 in the Indian market. Needless to state, the Classic 350 has been ruling the roost in the 350cc segment over the last several years and despite the arrival of several formidable rivals from Jawa, Honda and Yezdi, it has remained the undisputed leader of the segment.

The earlier spy images revealed that Triumph has left no stone unturned to make the Bonneville 400 a classic retro motorcycle with the inclusion of elements like circular LED headlamp, belly pan, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, chrome-finished rear grab rail, single exhaust pipe and lower handlebars. All these elements are quite popular among the RE enthusiasts and hence, Triumph could offer a decent alternative to its best-selling motorcycle.

The Bonneville 400 would use traditional elements instead of premium cycle parts as we see in the Speed 400. It will boast of telescopic front forks in place of the Speed 400’s USD front suspension. At the rear, the bike will have twin-shock absorbers and to accommodate this setup, the brand is likely to use a new subframe and swingarm or a heavily modified version of the existing unit.

The stopping power will come from front and rear disc units, which will be assisted by a dual-channel ABS. Interestingly, the Bonneville 400 houses a circular instrument cluster as compared to the semi-circular unit seen in the Speed 400. At the heart, the India-spec Bonneville 400 would be packed with the new 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which generates max power of 36.5 bhp and peak torque of 32 Nm with the Speed 400 and Scrambler models.

These power and torque figures are expected to be retained with the Bonneville 400. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The Bonneville would be the seventh 400 motorcycle in the British brand’s portfolio after the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400 XC, Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400. Since it has already been spotted in India, we believe that it could actually launch ahead of its tentative timeline of Q4 2026.
