Jupiter Fastest to Sell 5 Lakh Units in 18 Months; Will TVS Beat Hero This Year?

They may not be doing very well in some specific segments, but their scooters are taking them places! TVS Motor, which has beaten Bajaj for the third spot in monthly domestic sales in two-wheelers, informs that their scooter Jupiter has achieved a milestone. It has become the fastest selling 5 Lakh scooter model within 18 months of its launch.

If we decipher that is about an average of 28000 scooters per month which is, by all regards a very impressive performance. A quick look at the official SIAM sales figures we have and we notice that these 5 lakh units are out of the total of about 11 lakh scooters TVS sold in the last two financial years (from April 2013 to March 2015). Out of this, about 4 lakh are Streak, Zest and other cheaper offerings  and the remaining about 2-2.5 Lakhs must be for the Wego!

Launch of Jupiter has also resulted in a pretty impressive sales improvement for TVS scooters year on year and their sales figures for the last financial year were precariously close to the second largest scooter seller Hero. Honda with over 25 Lakh total last financial year’s sales is on a different level altogether!
